Balance the grid. Share the energy.
We are innovators with energy, striving to be a central element of a sustainable, renewable and secure future.
Grid Share builds, owns and operates power responsive data centres (i.e. flexible). “Flexible” means flexibility with regards to the energy they consume – they can be located anywhere that is required and curtail (turn-off) whenever is required, aka Demand Response.
We exist at the intersection between energy and computing.
Why?
The problem of matching supply and demand is a result of the unpredictable nature of renewable sources such as wind and solar power. Output can fluctuate rapidly due to changes in weather conditions, making it difficult to ensure a stable and consistent supply of electricity. The energy industry will need to invest substantially in system flexibility and security to cope with increasing amounts of renewables.
Demand response is a way to address this problem by using large consumers of electricity that can switch on and off quickly.
That's where we come in. Our data centres are large consumers, and they switch off and on quickly, using our proprietary technology, to release power back into the grid, or maintain frequency and voltage in the network. It is the perfect plug-in to provide the energy system flexibility required to support renewable growth.
Our data centres perform a variety of services, include AI computing and Bitcoin mining.
Grid Share acknowledges the Traditional Custodians of the land across which we work. We honour the Elders of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Nations past, present and emerging.
We acknowledge ngā iwi Māori as Tangata Whenua of Aotearoa.
